Getting to know your power modes
Your vacuum has three power modes designed for different tasks. Simply change the power mode by tapping the selection button.

Slim Fluffy™ cleaner head
Your Dyson V12 Origin vacuum is engineered with our Slim Fluffy™ cleaner head. The 25cm brush bar is wrapped in soft nylon and anti-static carbon fibre filaments to remove dust from hard floors.
Maintaining your Dyson V12 Origin vacuum
Watch our maintenance guide for tips and step-by-step instructions on how to keep your machine performing at its best.
- Cleaning the Slim Fluffy™ brush bar
Keep your vacuum's cleaner head in good condition by washing it in warm water.
- Emptying and cleaning the bin
Overfilling the bin can reduce suction and affect the accuracy of the particle count shown on screen. Maintain your machine's suction power by emptying the bin as soon as debris reaches the MAX marker.
- Checking for blockages
If your machine detects a blockage, the motor will pulse six times to let you know. You won't be able to continue until it is cleared.
Changing the battery
With your machine unplugged from the charger, the battery can be replaced using a small Posidrive screwdriver.
Looking after your filter
Your Dyson V12 Origin vacuum has a washable filter. Clean it regularly to prolong the filter's life and keep your machine performing at its best.
-
1. Turn off the powerRemove your vacuum from the docking station and twist the filter counterclockwise to remove it from the body.
-
2. Remove dust and debrisTap the filter unit lightly on the side of the sink or in the bin, to remove any loose dust and debris.
-
3. Wash the filterWash with cold tap water, gently squeezing the water out with your hands. Avoid using detergent or washing in dishwater or washing machine.
-
4. Gently shakeFill the inside with water, cover both sides with your hands and shake lightly. Wash until the water is clear.
-
5. Dry for at least 24 hoursAllow the filter to air dry in a well-ventilated area for at least 24 hours with the wide mouth facing down.
-
6. Let it dry completelyYour filter must be completely dry before you put it back into your machine, or it could damage the motor. Avoid drying in a tumble dryer, microwave or near a naked flame.
FAQs about the filter
Your machine will pulse seven times to alert you if there's a blockage. You can follow the animated guide on your LCD screen to clear it.
The LCD screen on your machine will remind you when it's time to clear your filter. This will usually be around once a month, but may be more frequent if you use your machine more heavily. After cleaning the filter, always leave it to dry for at least 24 hours. You must ensure it's completely dry before refitting. We recommend following the cleaning instructions and cleaning by hand. The filter is not suitable for dishwasher use.

FAQS about the battery and power modes
The LCD screen only uses up to 1.5 watts of power, which won't noticeably impact run time.
Both modes provide the optimal balance of power and run time. Auto mode works with all cleaner heads and the Dyson Hair screw tool, and automatically adjusts suction power to match the level of dust detected. Med mode is displayed instead of Auto mode when non-powered tools are attached, e.g. the Built-in dusting and crevice tool.
